European Co-Summit 2010

Itea 2 – the Eureka Cluster on Software-intensive Systems and Services (SiSS) – and the Artemis Joint Undertaking (JU) on embedded software are organising their third annual Co-summit on 26 and 27 October 2010 in Ghent, Belgium. The theme is ‘Mobile and cloud power enabling massive scalability and opportunities for growth’. More than 650 R&D actors and policy makers in industry, academia and public authorities are expected to attend this key European event.

Close collaboration between these two major research programmes brings together their communities and helps enlarge the ecosystem crucial for the competitiveness of Europe and the wellbeing of society. A focal point will be the biggest exhibition of funded collaborative research, development and innovation projects in SiSS and embedded systems in Europe. Some 70 Itea and Artemis projects will showcase results, achievements and demonstrations. Other exhibitors will include national competitiveness clusters, Flemish projects, several EU Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) projects and Eureka.

Meeting economic and societal challenges

Information and communications technologies (ICTs) are at the heart of the innovation drive, bringing technical solutions to both business and societal issues, such as job security, affordable healthcare and energy efficiency. In particular, mobile applications and ‘cloud-power’ concepts offer high potential for sustainable economic growth. These topics will be covered in depth by both the Co-summit and exhibition.

Full two-day programme

The two-day event in the International Convention Center in Ghent will be opened by Rudolf Haggenmüller, Chairman Itea 2, and Klaus Grimm, President Artemis Industry Association. The programme entails a conference with high-level speakers from industry and governments, next to an exhibition of 70 innovative ICT research projects.
